MPCe Pads — Explosive Expression
Powered by an 8-core processor and 8 GB of RAM, the MPC Live III debuts Akai's MPCe performance pads — a new standard in expressivity. This 3D-sensing technology supports multi-axis interfacing with each pad, combining aftertouch-like qualities with assignable RGB-backlit quadrants, letting you morph through modulations and assign distinct elements to parts of each pad.
The Performance Touch Strip adds user-customizable expression to every onboard, MIDI-connected, and virtual-instrument sound — from pitch/mod-wheel bends to full automation sweeps.

The MPC Live III migrates its beat-crafting tools to the top of the instrument via intuitive shift-function controls. The 16 buttons handle step sequencing, while automation, step editing, track arming, Q-Link configurations, and pad management are instantly accessible — no deep menu diving required. With built-in studio monitors, high-quality playback is always within reach.
XYFX, Sequencing & Sampling
The 7-inch multi-touch screen enters XYFX mode — a deeply customizable X-Y pad for hands-on sound design. Effects are color-coded for beat-synchronized and manually controlled options, with flexible routing between tracks and stereo output pairs.
Four banks of touch-capacitive Q-Link knobs deliver fine-tuned, on-the-fly control over sequence and sample editing. The MPC Live III also introduces direct sampling from iPhone or computer via USB-C — combined with a rechargeable battery and portable chassis, every moment of inspiration is captured wherever it strikes.
